The Butterfly Garden was designed to attract butterflies and to increase their population by planting varieties of plants, which not only provide food for them but also have a special role in supplementing them.The main feature of the garden is specially constructed flower beds. Nineteen varieties of nectar plants and twenty varieties of food plants help to create a favorable environment for the growth and multiplication of butterflies.

Spread over a thousand square meters, the garden provides various research opportunities to entomologists such as studying the life cycle of butterflies, studying the relationships between plants and butterflies, etc. A visitor service is also available to the garden, which offers a great place to get reintroduced to nature.

At one end Devgad Taluka has emerged as one of the main producers and exporters of Alphonso mangoes and at the other the extensive use of pesticides and fungicides in Mango orchards is destroying the homes of butterflies. The butterfly garden has succeeded in providing homes to the native and endemic species of butterflies. This attempt of Devgad College to conserve butterflies is one the first successful projects of this kind in the Konkan belt.
