National Cadet Corps
The National Cadet Corps (N.C.C.) is aimed at grooming disciplined and patriotic citizens. The primary goals of N.C.C. are to develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, and a spirit of selfless service among youth. The N.C.C. follows the motto ‘Unity and Discipline’.
Devgad College runs an active N.C.C. unit functioning under the 58 MAH BN NCC, Sindhudurg from May 2019. It provides training to male and female students in N.C.C. in the army wing.
Enrolment of cadets is made soon after admission to the college. The expenses towards the N.C.C. kit and uniform are deposited directly to cadet’s account by the Govt. of India.
Cadets get opportunity to participate in a variety of camps organized at battalion level to national level. National level camps include Republic Day Camp, Advanced Leadership Camp, Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat Camp, Army Attachment Training, Trekking Camp, River Rafting Camp etc.
Cadets participate in regular parades, rifle shooting, weapon drill, social service initiatives such as blood donation, beach cleaning drives, awareness rallies, tree plantation, disaster management and cultural programs.
The B and C certificates in N.C.C. are beneficial for cadets in their careers. A cadet holding C certificate gets 5 marks bonus in police recruitment in Maharashtra State. Also, they are eligible for N.C.C. special entry scheme in Officers cadre in Army. N.C.C. cadets are given priority in state government and private jobs in certain sectors.
